RBK customs!
RBK is making it so fans of the NHL, NFL, and MLB can design and customize shoes specific to their favorite teams.
Head on over to rbkcustom.com. Once the flash is done loading click on the ‘team’ shoe on the left of the screen. You can then choose the league and team design you want to use.

The shoe itself remains the same for all teams, but the logo and colours are all customizable. Another cool feature is the back of the shoe. You can put a number and a name (up to 6 characters) on the back, seen here:

I used 14, for my friend Yaz’s fav player, Alex Burrows. The RBK logo on the back is where a players name would normally go, but because Burrows is more than 6 characters, it would not fit. You could use his nickname, Burr, if you wanted, but I personally like the RBK logo with no number at all.
Head over to the site and fool around for a bit, it is fun to see what you can come up with. And if you like it, buy it. You will have your own one of a kind shoe.
Top USA online casinos…..Free money waiting for you!
I had a chance to check out a site recently, Top USA Online Casinos. It is simply the best source for information regarding the online casinos out there and will give you everything you need to know on how to receive cash bonuses from these sites. I saw bonuses ranging from $50 to $1000. What that means is that when you sign-up and upon your initial deposit they will give release the bonus to you as you continue to play at their site.
Top USA Online Casinos has all of this organized for you in a simple manner and you will be off to the races in no time! They have reviews of all the individual gaming sites and poker rooms as well.
I suggest that if you have any interest in playing a little blackjack or roulette online that you hop on over to Top USA Online Casinos. The design is clean and there is no misleading information. The best part about the site is that you feel confident that their information is accurate and up-to-date. So often similar sites don’t update and you will end up signing up for sites that are no longer offering the same bonuses.
Good luck at the tables!
15.2 Megapixel Camera under $1000?
This is unbelievable! I was just surfing Canon’s website and came across a prototype for Q4 2007. Can it really be 16mp??? I am so excited for this. You will be able to get amazing detail and print sizes with a camera like this. I don’t have pics cuz this is fresh news just a link to a tech guy handling the prototype. Check it out and you will be as stoked as I!
Microsoft Surface
You know, besides Office and XBOX 360, there isn’t much I like about Microsoft. But now I have seen something that truly excites me for the near future of technology. The Microsoft team has spent almost a decade working on what they call Microsoft Surface. At this time they currently have a 30-inch diagonal display that allows users to use just a finger to interact with the futuristic interface. If you’ve seen the movie Minority Report, then you can quickly imagine what this interaction is like.
Users can work with photos, explore maps, order food, and more that I can’t describe. Go to the site and watch the three movies there and you will be blown away. All I can say is that I am really impressed. At this time price points are unrealistic, but give it 5 years and you will see this technology everywhere.

Beach Season
Has finally arrived, hot on the tail of patio season! It is the best time of year. To be outside with a breeze in your face, the sun shining down, and bodies covered by thin single-layered material. I was fortunate enough to get over to Kits beach today around 4pm for a relaxing hour or so. After an extremely hard day of going to a two minute audition for a tooth paste commercial, it was exactly what i needed.
In the coming days, I will be doing some reviews on hot beach wear and some footwear as well. I see many people committing fashion suicide out there and it distracts me from other things that I could be looking at. As I write this, it is officially June, and it is going to be a great summer. This week is the Wii Giveaway, and I will be doing some major blog to blog link hunting this week to get a few last entries in there. Good luck to all those that worked hard on commenting and writing their reviews.
I will leave you with some snapshots I fired this afternoon. Vancouver is sexy. Not may places you can see sand, city, and mountains in the same place.

Nike ID
I hope by now you all know about Nike ID. It is Nike’s site where you can customize shoes to your own personal taste. Everyone knows that being unique is key to developing a great style. Yes, I know it’s just running shoes, but you will feel good when someone asks where they can grab a pair. So make sure you check it out at the Nike ID site.

Above you can see the customizing interface, I quickly designed those shox you see in the picture. Have fun!

Pumping up this blog! Free Nintendo Wii!
UPDATE: One commentor mentioned that I should do an update regarding the contest. Well so far I have recieved 8 reviews and 11 incoming links. A little less than I had hoped for and traffic had probably increased about %25 since the contest began. I don’t know if that can be consider successful. I really think there is an issue with this blog being to wide open. Anyways there is still about 10 days left. There are a lot of entries. I would say that some people have about a 10-15% chance to win thanks to all their hard work, but you never know, one comment is all it takes!
I’m not even kidding. It cost me just over $300, and for that much I could of ordered some ReviewMe ads on various blogs or gotten some adwords, but I think this contest will be big. I love the Wii as you have seen on my video podcast and I think you will love it as much as I do. Okay here is how the contest is going to work. On June 5th I will complete the draw which will be completely random, but I am adding a twist.
You will get one entry to the draw for every point, the more points you have the better chance there is you will get chosen. Here is how you get points.
1 point - Leave a comment on this post or any other post that has been written after May 5th. Use an email address that I can reach you at if you win.
5 points - send me a backlink from your blog, make sure to email me and let me know about the link so I can verify it and get you your points.
20 points - Review my blog on your site, 150 words or more, and email me with the link to the review.
For an additional 3 points, you can mention this contest in your review of this blog.

Now not only am I giving away a brand new Nintendo Wii, but I will also send you some link love. I will list all of the back-linkers and reviews here in order of completion.
For any questions send them to me at rick@bentoboxreview.com
Note: If you don’t want the Wii, I will send you the cash equivalent through paypal.

The Patio is where we go
25 celcius or 80 fahrenheit, it all means one thing, a great day out on the patio. It is finally patio season here in Vancity and I am loving it. I hit up Las Margaritas in Kitsilanos today which is basically the upscale west side of the city. I can’t tell you how nice it was to be outside and just enjoying the city and the weather. I said to my friend that at that moment, there couldn’t be too many better places to be in the entire world. Great weather, people, and the ability to go do basically whatever I wanted.
Here is some pictures of the day:

Mojitos alongside free chips and salsa

A classic margarita and a mango margarita. Mmm Tequila!
For any Vancity readers, Las Margaritas is at 1999 W. 4th, I definitely think its worth checking out for the patio alone. You get a nice view of 4th ave. and the service is really great. In fact, I think one of the owners served us today and was extremely pleasant and a joy to talk to. As far as the food goes, I would say there is a real mexican authenticity to it, however it leaves a little to be desired. I tried their beef and chicken combo fajitas and it was good, but not great. 8/10 for food. 9/10 for overall enjoyment of the meal.
Inspi(red) 2.0
Here is a shot of my new Gap tee shirt. It is from their new batch of designs, a little more interesting than the first go round.

If you don’t already know about Product (Red) and their cause, here it is.
Relaxed and Sexy
I found this woman’s clothes line that I just love. Guys if you are at that stage where you can pick up something for your girl in the clothing department then check out this fabulous line called MimoWear. This stuff just really caught my eye. MIMO combines sexy, supple fabrications with ready-to-wear styles that are made especially for women looking to create a mood with their wardrobe.

Check out the Website for the full Spring and Summer collections for ‘07, as well as store locations around the world.
I found the DigiCam that I want!
The recent offering of Panasonic i.e. the Lumix DMC-FX100 (highest-end point-and-shoot digital camera) comes packed with 12.2 megapixels. With high-speed and oddly wide 28mm f/2.8 lens with 3.6x optical zoom, the camera allows to capture eight frames per second.
The camera has got the personality as it offers 2.5 inch viewscreen but no optical viewfinder. With its optical image stabilization, the camera allows you to shoot HD photos of resolution 1920×1080, the same a 1080p TV set can do.
One can even shoot a HD video on it (could be 720p video) but the drawback is that it’s only at 15 frames per second. With no disclosure about the price, the FX100 will be available in July.
FLICK OFF!
Alrite, well I hope many of you have already heard about the FlickOff movement to prevent and stop the effects of global warming. I know I care a ton about this effort and you should too. Here have a quick lesson on global warming.
From the flickoff.org website

Climate change means any long-term, significant change in the weather patterns of an area.
A BRIEF EXPLANATION
It’s okay if you don’t know what global warming is. Bluntly, it’s defined as an increase in global temperatures due to the greenhouse effect. Global warming is a measure of climate change.
Here’s the basic setup:

Sun rays shine on the planet and enter our atmosphere. Our atmosphere retains some of that heat, thanks to naturally occurring greenhouse gases like water vapour, carbon dioxide and methane which trap the heat in. The reason we don’t overheat is that the Arctic, Antarctica and other frozen surfaces act like a mirror, reflecting a good part of the sun’s rays back into space.
But since the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, humans have been pumping massive amounts of heat-trapping gases into our atmosphere, causing the planet to warm up.

The ice has started melting and we are losing our mirror. There is 32% more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere today than there was at the start of the Industrial era.1
Earth has become much warmer over the past 150 years.

Source: www.cru.uea.uk/cru/info/warming/
It’s scary because In the 100,000 years that humans have been wandering about, the planet has never been more than a degree or two warmer than it is today. But this influx of greenhouse gases will mean a rise in temperature between 1.8 and 4 degrees over the next century. And that’s a modest estimate.
The effects of global warming will be complex. And, they’ll extend further than we might like to think.
I just ordered some Flick Off gear from Roots, I will post a pic as soon as I can get my hands on it next week some time. If you want to get in on this action find it at the Roots Website. There are also some cool desktop wallpapers to be had here.
BentoBox Party!
This friday I am hosting a pretty big BBQ/Party at my apartment to kick off the summer. It is always exciting when you host something more than a dinner party. I am expecting between 25-30 people. I think the most important thing to any good party is creating a good atmosphere for the guests, and allowing for a sociable experience. You need a good balance to men to women, and if you invite different cliques then you better make sure they can mingle and get along.
People are expected to bring their own alcohol, but I will be providing this:

I also really want to try and make Jellyfish Shooters!
I will do a full party review with pictures and all for you on saturday, and there is a chance I might even get some of it filmed. It will be like you were actually at the party with me!
Don’t forget about the Nintendo Wii contest! Any comment on this post gets you one entry into the draw which will take place on May 31st!

2 Cool flash games that I’m addicted too.
At my old work I used to have lots down time in which I could use the internet. Well I developed a fondness to a couple of great flash-based games. Just give them a try, if you like simple ones then this is for you.
Bells - A really cute winter game where you try and make your bunny jump as high as you can. Getting the birds will double your score.

If you can beat my high score I will give you this.
______________________________________________
For all you role players, this is a very intense, yet extremely fun, for nerds like me to play. Its called Swords and Sandles. It is a gladiator game where you can pick your weapons, armor and stats. Just give it a try, you will figure out the premise pretty easily but will you be able to win the gladiator tournament?

If you do win the tournament like I have demonstrated above I will be impressed and give you one of these.
