Microsoft Surface

You know, besides Office and XBOX 360, there isn’t much I like about Microsoft.  But now I have seen something that truly excites me for the near future of technology.  The Microsoft team has spent almost a decade working on what they call Microsoft Surface.  At this time they currently have a 30-inch diagonal display that allows users to use just a finger to interact with the futuristic interface.  If you’ve seen the movie Minority Report, then you can quickly imagine what this interaction is like.

Users can work with photos, explore maps, order food,  and more that I can’t describe.  Go to the site and watch the three movies there and you will be blown away.  All I can say is that I am really impressed.  At this time price points are unrealistic, but give it 5 years and you will see this technology everywhere.

Just read about it on… Engadget. Gizmodo. TechRave. The Gadget Blog. The Gadget Weblog. CNet. And about 150 other sites. ;)

Decided not to blog it myself - it’s an electronic table. I’m not incredibly amazed. Sure - it’s got some nice, fancy features and some great ideas, but if Microsoft make it as great as Vista, nobody will buy. ;)

It’s more than an electronic table, its the way of the future…and that means something.
