NHL Playoff Hockey
Now I am sure there are many non-hockey fans out there but hear me out. Tonight goes down as one of the best games I’ve ever seen the Vancouver Canucks win. Obviously, since I am from Vancouver, the ‘nucks are who I cheer for, but no matter what city you live in, hockey fans wait all year to be in the playoffs. This year Vancouver won their division in the regular season, which led to a first round matchup against the Dallas Stars.
Many said it would come down to a final game 7 and it did, after Dallas came back from a 3-1 deficit. But I am not here to recap the game, but to open you up to an experience that I can only feel so fortunate to have experienced. In Vancouver, ‘towel power’ reigns supreme as 16000+ fans wave their white towels in unison. If a goal is scored, yelling, cheering, whistling, and clapping comes on in full forces for minutes straight. The decibel level ofter exceeds that of a jet engine. A playoff win will always leave a true fan without a voice after the game.

Tonight’s win brings Vancouver one round closer to the elusive Stanley Cup finals. Something all young hockey players dream of. Of course there will always be great Super Bowls, and World Cup soccer, but hockey will always have its own special feeling. Every crushing bodycheck, every great save, every close call, gets the crowd buzzing and when the puck finally crosses the line for the home team, let the mayhem occur.
I feel completely drained after attending the game, and starting wednesday people will only be discussing round 2, but I will always remember this game as I do all game 7’s. I suggest no matter what sport you like, you do whatever you have to do to attend a playoff game with as much on the line as this. I begged the hockey gods all week for this one and they came through. Thanks guys.
