Keeping a perfect TiVo lineup.

Even since the arrival of Personal Video Recorders, I have never watched TV the same. Normally I don’t ever watch the show the night it airs, I often load up the harddrive and then stay up really late and watch it all. But if I do happen to watch it the night it airs, I always wait at least 20 minutes, this is so I can fast forward all of the commercials!

The current state of national television is hard to describe. Reality TV just won’t go away. A decade ago we were bombarded with shows like, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Survivor, and The Real World. Those were the shows on the top of many people’s faves. Although they still exist, and most likely always will, thrillers, murder mysteries, and dramas seem to have put up a fight. I think the average viewer is tired of watching the same content over and over, that’s why “Millionaire” and “Survivor” have dropped in ratings. Networks will continue to push these shows because they are cheap to make and still draw large audiences. The problem is they don’t have any big names attatched to them.

People like Tyra Banks and Simon Cowell draw us back in season after season for more ANTM and Idol. Competitions are great. People chasing dreams are great. But it needs more if the show is going to survive.

That being said, I still think Reality TV has seen its hayday. Viewers are now returning to great primetime lineups that include shows with the whole kitten caboodle. That means, great characters, thrilling plot lines, and probably a love story or two. Here are some of the shows that you can find on my PVR, I recommend you start on season 1 of all of them and prove me wrong in my phenomenal taste in television.

24
Jack Bauer keeps my coming back year after year. I think killing of Tony Almeida was a huge mistake however.

Grey’s Anatomy
The cast is superb, and each episode keeps us glued to the set. The writting on this show is the best in current TV.

Lost
I guess I keep watching this show because of the potential factor. A few missed steps for this one, but I hope they go out in a bang. <3 u Ms. Lilly.

The Office
Best comedy on television. Feel free to debate with me anytime. You bring an episode, I’ll bring an episode. Don’t think anyone from your show ever put someone’s desk in the bathroom, or their stuff in a vending maching. That’s right.

Entourage
I reviewed in on last weeks podcast. If I had to pick one show to go on forever, this probably would be it.

America’s Next Top Model
Because it’s essentially a beauty contest, the girls get extra catty, keeping this one on because I consider it a comedy.

The Hills
Will Lauren ever find the man she’s looking for? I’m right here damnit! Oh and Heidi, if you don’t drop Spencer soon, I will.

Sons of Hollywood
I just added this one to my PVR. I don’t love the show, but it’s like a real life ‘Entourage’ and I want to see what will happen with these so called go-getters.
